This report examines use of academic library e-resource authentication systems, probing issues sucg as expected system changes, off-campus reliability, authentication disruptions, migration from EZproxy, vendor support, identity-management confidence, SSO governance, and user login confusion.

The report finds that EZproxy remains the leading authentication system, used by 54.55% of respondents. OpenAthens accounts for 27.27%, while Shibboleth accounts for 6.06%; no institution selected CAS. Combined OpenAthens and Shibboleth reliance is expected to rise from 33.33% currently to 48.48% in three years.

Off-campus authentication reliability receives exceptionally strong ratings. 36.36% are very satisfied and 51.52% satisfied, for a combined positive rating of 87.88%. Authentication failures are usually rare: 81.82% say failures rarely disrupt access, while no respondent reports daily disruption.
