This study profiles the efforts of more than a dozen American academic, public and special libraries to develop, manage and market their special rare book and document collections. The report covers security, acquisitions, cataloging, digitization, exhibitions, lending policies, inventory control, financing, preservation, and many other aspects of rare book and documents collection management. Institutions profiled include: Boston College, Brigham Young University, Kent State University, the Newberry Library, The San Antonio Public Library, Trinity College, San Jose State University, the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Huntington Library, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library and the University of California, Chico.
