This study looks at how 103 law school faculty from more than 60 law schools are using virtual reality technology in teaching and research.  The report gives precise data on what faculty use VR for, their plans for future use, and their need for virtual and altered reality technology training.  The study presents data on specific applications, such as the use of courtroom simulation technology.

Data in the report is reported in the aggregate for the entire sample and broken out by many institutional and personal criteria such as law school ranking and size, and personal respondent age, gender and work title, among other variables.

Just a few of this 59-page report’s many findings are that:

  • About 4% of faculty use virtual reality technology regularly.
  • Men are slightly more likely than women to use VR in their teaching or research.
  • Faculty from top 20 law schools reported the highest rates of daily and monthly use
  • 6.67% of male faculty use courtroom simulation technology in their classes.
