Primary Research Group Inc. has published the Survey of Lawyers at Major Law Firms, Use of Law School Libraries, ISBN 979-8-88517-134-2
This study looks at the incidence, frequency and type of use of law school libraries by lawyers from major law firms. The report helps its readers to answer questions such as: how many and which lawyers use their old law school library’s online assets? How many use their old law school library’s print resources? How many actually visit law school libraries? Who uses law school libraries at law schools that they did not previously attend? For which resources do lawyers at major firms use law school libraries? How often are they using these resources?
Just a few of this report’s many findings are that:
-
18.54% of female lawyers in the sample had used the online collections of their old law school library while working for their law firm.
-
Lawyers who attended less prestigious law schools were more likely than those who attended more prestigious schools to seek out their old law school library.
Data in the reports is based on a survey of 229 lawyers from major law firms in the United States, predominantly firms with more than 500 lawyers. Data in the report is broken down by legal field or specialty, gender, work title, ranking of law school attended, and size of law firm.
