This study looks at how law school faculty are sharing artificial intelligence prompts and other strategies for using artificial intelligence.  The report helps to answer questions such as: How are law school faculty using prompts for artificial intelligence? Do they develop such prompts alone or share them with other faculty? Have they participated in efforts to archive prompts useful in legal research? Do they plan to participate in such efforts in the future? Have they ever received training in how to use a prompts archive or repository?

Just a few of this 55-page report’s many findings are that:

• 12.5% of those with no current teach responsibilities stockpile prompts.
• The practice of archiving AI prompts was more common among faculty at top 20 law schools than at other law schools.
• Deans and distinguished professors were more likely than others to have shared AI prompts with others.

Data in the report is reported in the aggregate for the entire sample and broke out by many institutional and personal criteria such as law school ranking and size, and personal respondent age, gender and work title, among other variables. More than 100 law school faculty from more than 60 law schools participated in the study.
