This 54-page study presents detailed data on how students view the ease of recharging their mobile devices in the academic library and how satisfied they are with library resources in this area. Data is presented separately for laptops and smartphones/tablets, with data on the perceived availability of electric outlets and UBS ports, among other data points. In addition, the report gives detailed demographic data on the types of mobile devices in use in the student population.
Data in the report presented in the aggregate and then broken out separately for seventeen different variables including but not limited to: college grades, gender, income level, year of college standing, SAT/ACT scores, regional origin, age, sexual orientation, college major and other personal variables, and by Carnegie class, enrollment size and public/private status of the survey participants institutions of higher education.
Just a few of the report’s many findings are that:

Only a shade more than half of survey participants were either satisfied or very satisfied with the number of electric outlets available in their academic libraries and most of these were in the first category, merely satisfied.

Students born abroad were much more satisfied than students born in the USA with the availability of UBS ports in the library.

Use of Apple products rose in lock step with family of origin income. For 36.5% of students from families earning less than $45,000 per year, the primary device that they recharged in the library was from Apple while this was true of 60.29% of those from families earning more than $150,000 per year.
