Primary Research Group has published the Survey of American College Students 2025, Use of Very Large Computer Monitors in the Academic Library, ISBN  979-8-88517-296-7

The study looks at how and how much college students use very large monitors in their academic libraries.  Data in the report is derived from a random sample survey of 931 American college students conducted in February and March 2025.  Findings are broken out by a broad range of variables with separate data sets presented by gender, age, academic major, income level, college size, public/private status and many other characteristics. 

Just a few of this 175-page report’s many findings are that:

• 16.79% of respondents have used very large monitors in their academic libraries.
• Younger students (under 20) are the least likely to use large monitors (12.62%), while students aged 20-28 are the most likely (around 21% usage).
• Students raised abroad have the highest rate of using large monitors (32.12%), much higher than domestic students.
• Males (21.43%) use large monitors more than females (14.52%) or transgender students (7.69%).
• 28.17% of survey participants would like to see their academic libraries set up a separate space or area for use of very large monitors.
• The capacity to Connect Personal Mobile Devices to very large monitors: This was ranked as the most important functionality by 42.36% of respondents.
